Railway Training Model Room

Where Innovation Meets the Iron Road -

An Immersive Railway Signalling Model Room

For over three decades, Deltron Equipment & Systems Pvt. Ltd. has blended engineering expertise with educational precision. Our Railway Signalling Training Model Room is not just a learning setup—it’s a living, breathing simulation of railway logic, safety, and control. Tailored for Zonal and Centralised Training Institutes, this model room brings to life the language of signals, the choreography of trains, and the unseen backbone of interlocking systems.

Track to the Future - Exploring Every Element First-Hand

Points (Switches): The Art of Direction

Trainees operate motorised and hand-cranked points, observing how switch blades align rails and how interlocking logic ensures routes are set and locked before any train rolls through.

Signals: Speaking to Trains Without Words

From classic semaphore to modern colour-light systems, learners experience how signals evolve, react, and command. Signal aspects change in real-time—governed by route status and occupancy—just as they do in the field.

Track Circuits & Axle Counters: Sensing What’s On the Rails

Understanding train detection is vital. The model shows how track circuits energise and de-energise with train movement, feeding into interlocking and signal clearance. Trainees grasp the logic behind “block occupied” and “block clear.”

Block Signalling Systems: Pillars of Safe Movement

Deltron’s model simulates all three block control system that governs train separation:

  • Absolute Block System – The golden rule: one train per section. Trainees learn manual block operations, token instruments, and Line Clear procedures using authentic communication workflows.

  • Intermediate Block Signalling (IBS) – Long sections become flexible. Trainees operate dual signals within one block, improving throughput while observing strict interlocking safeguards.

  • Automatic Block Signalling – The logic of autonomy: Signals powered by train detection via track circuits or axle counters. No buttons—just logic. Trainees witness automated aspect transitions, increasing their understanding of modern-day line capacity management.

Through these modules, participants engage with:

  • Granting and receiving Line Clear

  • Bell codes and train entry communication

  • Block instrument handling and fault simulations

  • Specific automatic signal aspect control in IBS & ABS

The Brain Behind the Operation: Interlocking in Focus

Relay Logic: The Heritage of Safety Hands-on training with relay-based interlocking provides foundational insight into the electromechanical logic of train routing, including fail-safe circuit construction and on-site diagnostics

Electronic Interlocking (EI): Safety Goes Digital Using VDUs and software-driven control, trainees navigate real-time route setting, receive system feedback, and learn remote fault management using SIL-4 compliant equipment

Route Setting Demystified

  • How interlocking prevents conflicting movements

  • Signal clearance checks based on point and circuit status

  • Manual overrides, emergency resets, and system recovery practices

  • Comparative view between relay-based and electronic systems

All Roads Lead Through the Station: Integrated Station Interlocking

Whether based on old-school relays or cutting-edge software, every interlocking system is explained with depth and clarity:

  • Signals, Points & Circuits in symphony

  • Locking mechanisms tied to route settings

  • Visual feedback from control panels or VDUs

Standard procedures for operation, maintenance, and system resets

From traditional mechanical gates to station-dependent automatic ones, the model includes:

  • Buzzer-based alerts for approaching trains

  • Logic-based gate operation triggered by signal and route status

  • Scenarios for manual override and emergency response

  • Synchronisation with EI and block sections
